  • Ammeter is device which use for measurement of electric current.
  • Symbol of Ammeter

  • Ammeter is always connected in series to measure a current.

  • Ammeter must be connected in series, because current is same in series connection.
  • So, When current passed through ammeter, it will show how amount of current passed through in conductor or wire in ampere.
  • It has very law impedance, so loss of power becomes low, If we connect ammeter in parallel than power loss make be high and device may damaged.
  • Types of ammeter
  • According to measurements of current  in different types of supply
  1. DC Ammeter
  2. AC Ammeter

  • There are generally two types of ammeter
  1. Analog Ammeter
  2. Digital Ammeter

  •  Digital ammeter shows accurate measurement as compared to analog ammeter
